Phillip Landolt published an article titled “The application of public interest norms in international commercial arbitration” in the leading international arbitration publication Arbitration International.  This article seeks to situate the application of public interest norms by arbitrators within private international law principles appropriate to the arbitral context. On 3 October 2023 Phillip Landolt’s article “Controlling Costs in International Arbitration” (Copyright 2023 Bloomberg Industry Group, Inc. (800-372-1033) Reproduced with permission) was published on Bloomberg Law.  The article distinguishes between the period before the arbitration agreement and the period after, in identifying opportunities for parties to control and reduce their costs in international arbitration.  To consult the article click here.

Phillip Landolt presented a country report on arbitration in Switzerland at the annual Lyon Catholic University conference on 25 – 26 April 2019.  A copy of the conference programme may be viewed here.

Phillip Landolt moderated a panel on access to arbitration at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrator’s annual conference in Prague on 25 and 26 April 2019.  A copy of the programme is found here.

At the annual general meeting of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators European Branch held on Saturday 28 April 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal Laurence Burger was appointed as Vice Chair and Phillip Landolt was appointed as Treasurer of the Branch each for a three-year term.

Phillip Landolt and Laurence Burger will speak at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators conference in Rome on 28 April 2017 “ADR in the midst of Br(Exits)”.  Phillip will be speaking on political developments and changes to the dispute settlement regime under NAFTA.  Laurence will be making opening and closing speeches. On 17 March 2017 Laurence Burger will speak on provisional measures in arbitration at the UNCITRAL international arbitration conference “International Arbitration:  Emerging Challenges” hosted in Kyiv by the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  The programme can viewed here.
